[Food Review] Wawawa - Bistro by The Reservoir

It's been a while since I did a review post. Been wanting to try out this new Bistro place at Bedok Reservoir. So near my place and finally a hang out place that looks decent enough.

After my usually weekend run today, my girlfriends and I decided to check out this place for dinner. We ordered lemon tea ($5), Pan Seared Salmon ($18++), Caesar Salad ($9+), Cajun Chicken ($14++) and Fish & Chips ($16?).

My verdict?
Cajun chicken was the best in price & taste. The Caesar salad portion was slight larger than a fist size and too little veggies. Isn't veggies why salad are called salad? They took a while to have our food out and service is slightly slower than normal but still bearable. What's ridiculous is the lemon tea price. It's an average cup and diluted. For $5 drinks, it's waaayyy too expensive. The most I've gotten on an average price for a lemon tea is about $3.50. $5 is just over the limit. They don't serve ice water and we're just thirsty. Which is why we paid for it.

What I love most about that place is the atmosphere! It's not too noisy with subtle music playing at the background. Not overcrowded and it's just perfect to chill/hangout/date. :)

Will go back there once in a while to chill out but I'll bring my drinks there unless it's alcoholic.

To make one so that you will know what you have accomplished in the last year. So, here's what I wrote last year in my previous blog.

~~Go to the mission fields to wet my hands and feets. I need to feel human and passionate again. I’ve been waiting for too long for this already.~~ (To Batam)

Out of 11, I have completed 6. Guess I'll bring 5 over and make some more new ones as well. Thus, in 2012, I will like to:

Like every child have a dream since they were young. I didn't want to be a nurse, doctor, teacher, clerk or whatever office jobs out there. I'm not saying it's bad, just that I wanted something different. I wanted something that require me to be active and sometimes inactive. I admit that I get bored very easily, which is why I always seek for something different. My cousin calls me an adrenaline junkie for a reason. :)

I think ultimately, my dream is to work and travel. Make an improvement change in people's life who are in need. Very humanitarian but I love doing the real job. Seeing smiles on their faces is like winning a million dollar lottery for me (I don't buy lottery by the way). It makes me in touch with my thoughts and feelings, and the best part is I definitely enjoyed it. :)

[Macau] Day 3 - Dim Sum & Discovery of Custard Buns

Sorry for the delay in blogging as I've been so ULTIMATELY busy with school and work at the same time. So before the year ends, I have to put this travel blog down as a closure!

My team on that day to Macau!

Macau in short - I believe has better than food than Hong Kong and it's the land that I first discovered a pau that I love!! Custard buns are awesome! I've been told to tried that pork buns but we were too full to eat anymore so we had to give that a missed.

Tips you will want to take note - NEVER try going over during the weekend/ph/holidays. It's just OMG. I spent one hour just trying to get through the customs and even had to fight my way out. Thank God that I can be thick skin when I need to, else I'll never get through the customs. Be kiasu at this time, it's crucial and will do you good.

We didn't go much places as we only spent one day there and took a boat back to Hong Kong during the evening. It's a beautiful place at night and loads of couples are there for their wedding shoots.

I was really sad when we had to leave the next day back to Singapore as I've made great friends over there and goodbyes are always heart wrenching for me. Partly also because it means that my life is back to work and routine again.

WHAT?! $5 bucks instant noodles?!

On a happier note, here's a picture of me and my $5 bucks instant noodles on Tiger airway. I'm really disappointed that they even ran out of blankets to sell!! It's ridiculous.

[Hong Kong] Day 2 - Ocean Park, The Peak & Drinks!

Before heading off to Ocean Park, we headed to this famous breakfast place at Jordon Station. Had yummy scrambled eggs set with milk tea. You can find more information here on how to get there.

We gave disneyland a miss as my girlfriend and myself have been to a bigger one in another country. We headed to their local theme park instead, Ocean Park. Their theme park was split into 2 portions. What I really enjoyed best was the long cable car ride. It was really beautiful as we can over see into the long horizon of the small island and ocean around Hong Kong. The rides are average and to me, I think it can be improved a lot more.

We left Ocean Park pretty early after we were bored and headed to "The Peak". Wanted to take the Tram up but the queue was so bloody long! 1 and a half hours!! After a whole day of queue-ing, I am pretty much sick of queue-ing already.

Beware of taxi drivers that are out of their cabs, wanting to fetch people up. We tried asking one guy and he charged us almost $30 Singapore Dollars! We were taken aback when we know how cheap taxi are in Hong Kong. So I asked my friend who went up before how long he took by bus, he told me about 15 mins! 15 mins will only be about $15 Singapore Dollars actually. So we ignored him and went to the other side where a lot of people are alighting. Grabbed a cab who is willingly to bring us up to the Peak and the price was half of what the crazy driver offered.

We had an awesomely hard time coming down the peak. The bus queue, taxi and tram queue was all so long! We tried to get a taxi but it was so hard that we decided to take the bus down as they have fixed timing which is pretty frequent.

We met up with one of my Hong Kong friends for a drink after that. He brought us to a place at TST called 諾士佛臺（Knutsford Terrace）. That whole area is a drinking lane hidden in a corner of TST and it's pretty chill. They also brought us to a couple of tourist places around the area but it was pretty late at night so most of them have do not have lights up for me to take photos.

[Hong Kong] Day 1 - Airport, MongKok

Hello All,

Apologies for the overdue review! Just want to say that even though my girl friend and myself has been to HK only for 4 days 3 nights, it was an awesome experience. We didn't managed to cover a lot of places as we spent a day in Macau itself.

We bought our air tickets from tiger airways and it's my first time on a budget airline in Singapore. My last flight on an internal budget airline in Korea was a really bad. We were squashed side by side like how you stand in the MRT during a peak hours. You have no space on the side as well as the leg portion. Good thing was the flight was less than an hour and we slept through the whole journey. Initially, I was against tiger but after heard from my girl friend that it is as bad as what I though, I have decided to give it another try. Yes, it wasn't so bad just that we had no blankets during the journey and it was freezing cold. No food as well. Imagine $5 for instant noodles?! The whole journey took us about 4 hours and finally we were at Hong Kong airport!

You think taking budget airline is horror? Wait till you reach Hong Kong airport... We had to walk 10mins to the sky train and from the sky train, walk another 10 mins to the check out counter. No, it's not the end yet. We queued literally 1 hour to just get out of the arrival counter to retrieve our luggage. It was pure horror for me as I have never in my life experienced such a massive crowd before.

Two things in mind when you are in Hong Kong.

You will spend half your time in a queue.
You will guaranteed be squash in the crowd many times during the journey.

Finally when we were out, we went to find our tour agent to get a free ride to the hotel. We purchased our deal from deals.com.sg. Please look out where your hotel is before purchase as we didn't our original hotel was located in Tsing Yi. It was an almost inaccessible from where we were, so I had to head down to the travel agency and asked for a change of hotel. Of course it doesn't come free, so we have to top up additional $61 per person to move to Cosmo Mongkok Hotel (Mongkok). We were fine with the top up and would have gone with the upgrade anyways.

All hotels in Hong Kong are said to be really small and it is really small. No more than 2 people per room. We gotten ourselves a pretty decent room. The toilet was the open concept kinda of style which lacks a little privacy as the glass doors are semi translucent and no locks. There is free wifi on the ground level of our small hotel. The staffs there are friendly and able to speak in Chinese. I believe they could manage English as well as I've seen quite a handful of Caucasians around. Cosmos MongKok Hotel is about 10mins walk away from Olympic Station and about 15mins walk away from MongKok Station. We found out later that taxi are relatively cheap in Hong Kong and it's pretty safe to take them, we abused it quite a lot over the next 4 days in our trip.

August is the school holiday season as well as the sales season in Hong Kong, do expect a larger crowd in general. We went to the night market at Temple street, it's almost like a blend of bugis street and pasar malam in Singapore. Personally, I don't think there is a lot of things to purchase there but interesting to walk around. My Hong Kong friend mentioned that is a tourist spot, most locals don't go there to shop at all. They can be quite rowdy with Caucasians, to get them to their stalls.

Shopping for clothes are generally much more expensive in Singapore somehow, even though they have sales. We shopped mainly at Tsim Sa Tsui as it's like Orchard road in Singapore. Try out their yummy street food! Smelly tofu and their famous mango desserts.

Wow! It's been a long long time since I had been to a local spa around Singapore. As always, it has to be a great deal as I think the spa locally is a little overrated in terms of pricing.

How we chanced upon this promotion was through Groupon Singapore. I guess I am not the only one who is into this coupon crazy. We all love fantastic deals, don't we?

Coming back to the topic, we tried booking over the weekdays after 6pm but the slots were blocked out over the island. I believe it due to the overwhelming response of the promotion as there was a lot of purchases going on during that period. So in the end, my colleague and I decided we should go during lunch break at the nearest branch from our work place.

There was a time slot at 12pm and we booked it. The outlet that we went to was at Raffles Place (Malacca Centre). We rush over to Raffles during lunch time. I had to call up the outlet to let them know that we were late and they told us that the could only hold the reservation time for 15 mins. My initial thought was like seriously?! So I had to tell them that we were on the way there and if they could hold it for us for another 15 mins. I was forcing my way and I know that they can't say no. It's not my usual self to do this but sometimes, you just have to.

We found the place quite easily as the green banner was obvious among the brown buildings plus it is on the ground level. The entrance of the outlet was simple, white and light green. It was clean looking and there was 2 staff at the counter. They were friendly and led us to where we needed to go and what we needed to do.

My colleague and I was led into this room, inside were 2 massage beds. As we booked the slot together, they pulled out the divider of the room. Which means I can talk to my colleague when we massage. If it was awkward, I am very sure we can ask them to pull in the divider but we were comfortable with the open-ness of it.

I had to point out that they didn't have a locker for us to put our valuables, when my colleague asked for a locker, the staff simply said it was at the basement (which was a hassle to go down). Hmmm... I wonder if everybody was comfortable with that? So the only way to "hide" it was in between our clothes.

Onwards to the massage portion, I had my bed heated up and my colleague's bed wasn't(the person forgot to turn it on for her) and she was freezing cold after the whole massage! Poor thing. My masseuse was not local(I believe) and her strength for massage wasn't too strong and I felt that it was just normal as I like tougher massages. My neck/shoulders were so stiff at that point that I asked her to focus more on that area. I liked it when she knows where my stiff points are and focused quite a bit on it but the rest were so-so for me.

After the massage, I have never felt so shiok in my life! I have been to multiple massages but this was the best because it was during lunch break, after a very stressful morning, one massage really acts as a booster for me. So that's my hint for you ladies, ta pau your lunch and hit the massage during lunch time.

I also liked the fact that the consultant didn't try to hard sell to us. All she did was promote 10 massage package with 10 scrubs for $688 and when we didn't want it, she didn't try to lower the package price or anything. It really "wow" me at that part. Totally impressed.

So we walked out of the place happy! Oh, they had a complimentay red date drink after the massage.

Reflections on my first mission trip in Batam

It was an awesome trip, really. Somehow, as much as I know it's reality, my brain will have a lag in time space. I can only really understand and fully comprehend things when just be still and do recalls. I don't think I have a fixed blog space to write any more but I will just write it in here to share with readers who would like to know more about the background of Batam.

Firstly, somehow hills hotel ran out of rooms for us and thus we were assigned to stay in Triniti Hotel. It is not a bad place as it is nearly directly opposite Nagoya Shopping Mall. What I really liked about this place was it actually feels homely to me, maybe due to the tiled floors and that the mirror is not in front of the bed. I really dislike mirrors to be in front of the beds and most hotels are built that way. It's just creepy to see yourself every time you wake up.

Around the small island of Batam, there are already about 45 orphanages and I believe Batam is about the 2/3 the size of Singapore. It than struck me about how little I know about this island and how I took Singapore for granted. We are really living in good shells if you have to ask me personally. As much as all these polling and politics that are going on, just take a good look at Batam, you cannot ask for more. The roads in Batam are beaten and filled with a lot of pit holes. My team moved around in a mini bus and those who sat right at the back, always have their butts off the chairs due to all the bumps in the roads. What I also came to realise was that Batam has a mixed of religion as well. I actually see quite a handful of churches around the area. Actually, I see a lot more things during my 6 days there.

For food, we had so much fish and BBQ/Chilli chicken for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The people there eats a lot of nasi (rice). Their vegetables are on a separate plate and not cooked. The usual are raw cabbage, sweet potato leaves(?), cucumber and some other leafy stuff that I'm not sure of. Their McDonald meal actually looked more like a KFC meal to me. In one set, there was a rice cake wrapped in the burger style. Nothing in there except rice and one chicken piece and a drink. No fries, no vegetables. That's one set and just looking at it makes me doubt that it's McDonald until I see the logo of the box.

The children there taught me to appreciate many things we took for granted. They ran around barefoot, stepping on broken roof tiles that were littered around the orphanages. There was also nails on the floor and I actually fear for them. 43 children ranged from 6-18 years old squeezed into a mini bus that fits only 13 young adults. Just do your math and imagine how squash there were! They didn't complain one bit and in fact they were so happy that they are going out. They dressed so well even though they knew they were playing soccer. When we were teaching games or songs that were meant for younger children, the older children actually tagged along with us. This was an eye opener for me as I am very sure it will not happen in Singapore and the older children will probably refused to tag along with the childish movements. It really warms my heart to see every older children taking care of the younger ones. Nearly all of them came from different places but they help each other like they were real family.

My greatest regret?! I had a big one, that I regretted not know any form of Bahasa Melayu. It is like so close to my home yet I knew nothing of it. I'm actually ashamed though. Only if I knew, I would have known each child's background better and speak encouragement into their lives. They mature so much more than the children here and appreciate things that are given to them. Did I mentioned that they are very smart too? They learnt English songs within an hour and memorised the actions within an hour as well. Even though there was some sort of communication constraints, they got what we were trying to teach them. It is just amazing.

The orphanage we went to live by faith for God to provide and He did. They do not have a monthly supply of food but rather when random groups of people donating to them. While we were there, we saw rice and noodles delivered. I talked to one of the donors there and they mentioned that they will do this once every 3 months. But with what they have provided, I know it will not last for 3 months. It has to come from somewhere else as well. When they need help in their basic needs, they will come together and pray. Seeing them praise God with what they have, makes me wonder about myself. I have so much more than what they had and I'm still not praising God as sincerely as they did. They have almost nothing.

As much as I thought we should be blessing those little ones... I think I took back so much more things in return. They have blessed me and given me back my heart. It has been a little chilly for 3 years and I just warmed it up during the 6 days. I want to go back there again definitely and this time round, I'm convinced in learning Bahasa Indo.

Ahhhh, on second thought, I really could have dump my passport into the ocean and stay with the children. :)

Embarking on a Mission Trip

It's been a while since I've updated on this page!
I will be going on my first Mission Trip out to Batam! Yes, it's a little bit funny as I'm always there for massages and fun! This time, it's hard work!

Just something that I might update on, as I'm staying at hills hotel in Batam. It will be around Nagoya area and I heard it's very near to Nagoya Shopping Mall. Will definitely update and let you know when I am back!

Just some definition on mission trip if this is the first time you are hearing this. A short-term mission (STM) is the mobilization of a Christian missionary for a short period of time ranging from days to a year; many short-term missions are called mission trips.

[Japan] Summarised

Yes, if you realised that my posts for Japan wasn't detailed very much as it's written in 2009 and more for my family to know my whereabouts.

Most of the places we went were in Tokyo, except for the Hakone and the strawberry farm which was at Naruto Town. Like seriously, there IS a naruto town (if you watched the anime, you know what I'm talking about).

[Japan] Day 6 – Akihabara, Ueno, Tsukiji, Shinjuku

Yep… I covered those area on top!! Quite alot and Akihabara was more of a go and get my earphones only. haha! Then everybody ended up getting earphones too. When to Ueno to get snacks!! Guess what I spend like 6k on snacks itself which is about 100 SGD. Tell me how cheap it can be. haha! Anyways, it filled the up the extra bag that I brought.

Sorry QiQi, your Dorayuki is darn expensive. It’s like 4 SGD for one piece only. I got you the bun version instead. :) Don’t say I’m mean.

Shinjuku was suppose to be a red light district in Japan but when we were there, I don’t see so much of it. There was a 300 yen shop and a 100 yen shop there. Bought my bed room slippers, mouse pad and some sweets. So right now I have loads of sweets. I was really shacked by then and all I want to do at that point of time is to sleep. lol!! We had our feet baths as usual and it’s was shiok!

The best part was Tsukiji. We had a fabulous breakfast with super fresh sashimi. The best that I’ve prolly ever tried!! Hoho! Will love to go back there again sometime. :))

[Japan] Day 5 – DisneyLand

Yesterday was Sea… So today’s is Land!! For some reason there was SO much more people today. The only reason we have is that today the weather report is sunny. Yesterday was suppose to be raining but I prayed for no rain and good weather. Thank God for answering my prayers!!

Pray that God will con’t to hold the weather until I’m back. My feet are totally worn out from the tons of walking. Geez. I bought this really cute cup from Disneyland, and a Donald duck head clip to wear on my head. It’s quite fun though… haha!! I glad that I didn’t spend much in Disney cos I’m planning to buy more to stuff at Ghibili. =3

We had leg soaking when we came back. All of us had super tired feets and to skip the censored sections, it was super SHIOK… For the “onsen” for our feets! Today evening, the wind was really strong and super CCCooolllldddd!! I’m definitely going to miss this weather once I’m back in Singapore.

My fav rides of the day is space mountain. It’s a series of sharp turns down the rollar coasters. What I love is the sharp turns and the 3D cellings that they have. I’m so amazed at how real their stuff can be! For their many dolls, their faces were so real with exact eyes, mouth, eyes and facial movement. Did I mentioned that it looks like a real man as well?! That’s how good looking their stuff are. Their 3D is power packed as well. Geez, I hope Singapore’s upcoming theme park will be in par with them.

You know those lifts that you see in the MRT? Japan as them too!! Except that instead of the insides being transparent, it’s not. I see many stuffs in Japan that Singapore has the exact same thing as them. Not too sure who copied whom but it doesn’t really matter. haha!

[Japan] Day 4 – DisneySea

Yoyo!! Headed to DisneySea today. Tomorrow we’ll be DisneyLand. I think I’m really going to grow fatter then I come back to SG. Which I’m not exactly looking forward to…

Woke up in the donkey hours at 6.30am tokyo time but it’s actually 5.30am Singapore time. Seriously, it’s prolly the earliest that I’ve ever woke up from. From Day 1 till now, there was never a time that I walked and my feet doesn’t hurt. I walk at least 6 hours a day and I eat alot as well. A meal would at least cost me 16SGD. I will definitely whack out once I touch down in Singapore on Monday morning. I just hope that I don’t overload my luggage now.

DisneySea is beautiful and finally I’m glad to say that I sat on a big rollarcoaster. Queued like an hour and the ride only last for less then 5 mins usually. My favs rides are Journey to the center of the earth, storm raider, the mermaid stage play, 20,000 feet under the sea and a few more which I’m having trouble remember all of it now. lol!!

Bought a really cute mickey hand and stitch keychain as it’s really love it. The people there are really “on” and they will get the stuff from disney shop and wear it for the whole day. Be it guy or girl, most and nearly all of has something they get from the shop. I saw a really handsome Aladdin and the Japanese girls are REALLY screaming all round him. I was like… =.= I can imagine them in full blast… Scary. lol!! I can never do this.

[Japan] Day 3 – Shibuya, McPork, YatterMan

Wow… It’s already day 3 and it feels like I’m here for a week or something already. I adapt really fast here and I love it. When PH went to her concert and left WQ and myself. It’s was really fun cos we have to find our way to the hotel and order our MacDonald meal. You know what is the best thing. The pork patty actually taste like Mac’s big breakfast which is suppose to be non-pork. hohoho! It’s prolly the sauce.

I had the best doughnuts yesterday at krispy kreme. We bought like 12 of it, so now each person have to finish 4!! Went to Shibuya yesterday and it was super crowded. I hate the crowd totally cos I just dun like crowded places naturally. Anyways, I bought 2 really cute socks for myself, yummy goodies from tokyo tower for my family and some makeup stuff that I wanted to try.

I was thinking if I should dye my hair before I come back… Of course it’s DIY. hoho!!

My culture shock for Japan is their movie. It’s so eechi and porn-ish. OMG… Worse is there wasn’t a age limit for it and even children can watch it!! No wonder Singapore hardly bring in movies from Japan. lol!! The one we saw was Yattaman. My most expensive movie ticket ever. Guess how much it is and you can say that Singapore is darn cheap cos it’s 2X the price man. 20SGD for a ticket but the interesting thing is you buy the ticket for movie title only. After that you can watch it at any cinema from the same name around the cities of Tokyo at the timing you deem fit. Only if Singapore could do that but it’s too small as well. haha!

[Japan] Day 1 & 2 – Airport, Hakone, Onsen, Ikebukuro

Day 1:

The airplane ride was super LONG and boring… It didn’t felt real until I hit the floors of Japan. I saw really pretty stars at the atmosphere (while my plane there). It’s really pretty and huge. Once I hit the floor of Japan, a lady in the airport was like fainting but insisting in going. haha! Worse was there was this really horrible guy who snored like no tomorrow in the plane which was kinda irritating…

Well, after all the train ride and changing of trains. We thought we were finally going to reach… but no way… The 3 of us has prolly climbed the most steps in our lives carrying our 10kg over bags individually. We prolly climbed up and down for an hour before reaching the most inhuman place on earth. lol!! Never climb that area with your luggage.

Part to that, we went to onsen TOTALLY naked. Whoots! It really’s a break through for me to do that. Good thing that there wasn’t anybody else other than us. It’s really nice and comfortable!! I hope I’ll be able to go to another Onsen before I leave Japan. So our rest of the day was actually a slack. We had a really good dinner and amazing breakfast set. :))

Day 2:

We left for tokyo and headed to Aoyama to get PH’s stuff and it start raining like mad. Or rather the whole day… Bought the most expensive umbrella today and SOMEBODY TOOK IT at the end of the day!!! It’s 8 SGD leh!!! That’s the most expensive umbrella I got EVER!!! GRRRRRR!!! I had a a hair cut as well. Not much difference other then it being shorter then it’s suppose to be. haha!

Bought ALOT of things already. Geez. Got a hair dye, anime stuff for Yi jun and loads of beauty products for myself. Haha! Got a pretty something for you elaine!! Walked till we’re totally dehydrated and tired. I hope I won’t overspend. T.T Gtg for the day! Cheers!

Batam Review - Holiday Inn & Golden Prawn 999 - Day 1

Another Batam Trip! I think it's going to be my yearly trip now since I can be a Queen for less than $300.

We took the Spa and Stay for 2D1N Holiday Inn at $168 per pax. As that was last year promotion, I believe there should be something similar to this for this year.We took the 2nd earliest boat to Batam and had an early check-in into the resort. It's my second time there and I can safetly say that I love Holiday Inn compared to Harris.

Firstly, check out the room in Holiday Inn for family of 4! It's like a condo and we all loved it! Very cozy and we just made ourselves at home.

I know Batam's scenery and it's a cannot make it, if you ask me personally. Well, Holiday Inn made a really smart move in building their resort in a circle so that everybody will have a overview into the pool and it's a really pretty view.

On to the next topic, it's spa time! I can't remember how long was the spa hours but it was about 1.5hours in total. We had scrub, massage and a drink after the whole thing. It was heavenly, really...

After spa, we headed to nagoya shopping mall which is a 30 min ride from Holiday Inn. I haven't been to other malls as my friend mentioned that there was nothing in the rest of the malls.

We were all famished by the time we reached there and decided to have their local food and ordered nasi ayam penyet!! The one we went to was oppsite A&W. Don't expect much from Batam's A&W, it's not much there.


It's so cheap! About $3 SGD

After a happy lunch, we went on to pamper ourselves with pedicure, hair spa and facial at Eska...

We need classic pedicure about $14 SGD! They used OPI nail colours.

Now that I'm typing this out, it's amazing at now much things we covered in a day and it's not even the end yet! After pampering ourselves, we header to hypermart to get some tolietries! It's a MUST because everything is seriously cheap there. We had our trolley filled with soooo many things.

Upon spending a total of a million rupiah at Eska, we're entitled to a one way ride to somewhere. We requested for them to bring us to Golden Prawn 999 for dinner. We also told the uncle we needed help to liaise a cab back to Holiday Inn. As it's hard to get a taxi from Golden Prawn unless you ask the front counter to help call a taxi, plus it's safer as well. We paid $15 SGD back to Holiday Inn, it's a average price though we could bargain lower but since it's quite late, we decided not to.

Dinner price: about $16-20 per pax, see more below on what we ordered.

Batam Review - Holiday Inn - Day 2

Breakfast in Holiday Inn after a good night sleep. Another reason why I preferred Holiday Inn to Harris is the buffet spread they have as well as the near zero house flies they have. There are sooo many house flies at Harris!

After a really full breakfast, we headed to the spa area for Jacucci ,sauna and later chilling out at the indoor swimming pool as it was raining outside.

It was alot more on chill and relax on the last day, so we took some random photos to commemorate this day. I love how the pictures turned out and I had a blast with my girl friends.

Yes, it's been another long and awesome year. As I'm only going to be this age once in my life, might as well use it to the fullest! Happy New Year to all my awesome readers, it's going to be another great year ahead and I hope to be able to continue to provide good reviews though I'm busy.

To sum my 2010 in a points, I've:

Attended a short documentary 4 week course by Noise & Bearfruit.
Been to Korea/Malaysia.
Pass my exams with As/Bs, thank God for his amazing grace.
I take no credit except hardwork as I've always gotten Cs/Ds.
Owned a acoustic guitar, thanks to Daddy.
Been in my current company for 2 years! I didn't know I could do that seriously. haha!
Made new friends.
Finished reading at least one storybook! I used to be able to finish 1 a day. :(

To my 2011, I want/hope/wish/desire:

Go to the mission fields to wet my hands and feets. I need to feel human and passionate again. I've been waiting for too long for this already.
Save money... and spend less.
Reach my expected weight of 55kg! It's been a dream to even hit there. haha!
Re-look/survey where my heart is and what I want to do truly.
Hit to reservoir once a week, if not, once in 2 weeks!

Sorry for the lack of updates!!
I've been so busy with so many things!

Been working on my Documentary Project by Noise/Bearfruit, conducted by Jean. It's been really exciting so far just that I'm struggling to fit so many things into my 24 hour day which is crazy! So crazy! It's coming to the last lesson with the final presentation as a group and I've yet to complete so many things. Need to start!

Praying so hard as well that my exams will be okay! 3 papers to go and God bless me! My bestie's wedding is coming up as well and I'm really honoured to be able to design her wedding card. It's been great fun and I'm really glad that she likes how the cards turned out. I liked how it turned out too. Will upload a review to show it after exams! Maybe I'll start freelancing card designs as well. :)

I need to decide which blog I'll like to focus on too. Might use blogspot to focus on my expansion. :)

Comparing to Avene, this one wasn't as good. As I was looking for something that wasn't too oily as I'll be wearing it the whole day, I thought I'll give this a try. So naturally, I chose one more for normal to oily skin.

I will definitely like something that has SPF50 as it last about 50 mins compared to SPF30 which is only 30 mins. Click here for your tip to how long before you should reapply.

Onwards to the product, this one doesn't make my face overly white but the smell of the sun screen really last the whole day and I don't like it. Not only does it dries my skin, my skin became more oily and uncomfortable after a day of wearing it. Natural reaction for your skin when it's dry, it will produce more oil to try to protect it. You can't fight that, which is why I stop using foam cleanser because it makes my skin more oily at the end of it.

This sun screen is not for me, I'll look out for another sun screen soon when I'm less lazy.

Badger Lip Balm - Lavender & Orange

Ever since I've been to Korea and had really dry lips, almost like cold sore, I prefer oily balms over waxy ones. So partly this was the reason why I bough this as well. This is my first badger lip balm and what attracted me to get it was the design. Plus it's organic too. Personally, it doesn't make much of a difference whether or not it's organic because this ain't food.

Well, most important is what's in it. I think it smells very lavender-ish and nearly zero on orange smells. So for those who love lavender smells, this is definitely a lover for you. It definitely look me a while to get use to it as I'm somebody likes mild smells and this one can be quite strong. But at this moment, I'm loving this.

It's very moisturising and I wear it every night right before I go to bed. The next day after brushing my teeth, I'll use water to rub my lips gently to get rid of the dead cells on my lips. Hmmm... I love baby smooth lips that are not cracked. Good to use it as a base for those who wears lip stick.

Hardly any dislikes except the smells that can be a little less strong, which also explains why it's 3 stars instead of 4. haha! :)

I was just reading through my daily intake of Yahoo News and I'm just left with such a bad after taste of how ugly humans can be sometimes. I'm quite sure all of them started out with a positive and humble intention. As they grow and become more popular, half the time, pride/ego grows as well. It's just so hard for us to be contented?

Food blogger who demands free meal sparks outrage online

Most of us would be pissed and annoyed with his behaviour but I'm definitely not surprise at why he's reacting this way. And so some of you might agree... When pride comes, comes the fall.

Let us learn from his lesson and make it a constant reminder for us. It's always easier to judge then to learn what from had happened.

My colleague asked if I wanted to go as there was a 1-1 free at $48 promotion by DBS. Loving massages even though it's ticklish, I said YES without much thought! I was definitely more excited after the last massage at body contours.

It was a short walk from Orchard MRT station. It's towards TANGS/Lido direction. Some might find the walk a bit far but I'm okay with the distance. We headed to pacific plaza and the spa centre was actually right at the last floor; right in front of the escalator! No need to even find your way around.

We were showed to our seats after waiting for a while and the small room actually had 2 cups of ginger tea prepared for us on the small coffee table. I didn't even see the lady put it there! Impressive, I have to admit. The tea was definitely yummy and very relaxing. After 5 minutes or so, the consultant appeared, told asked if us to fill up some administrative forms while explaining to us what massages we will be having.

Balinese Boreh Mask on the Back

The consultant introduced us to our masseuse, who led us to our changing rooms. The lockers are placed outside and not within the massage rooms. A little like the gym style. When we were ready, we were led into separate rooms for the massage. My masseuse was a really nice lady (Aunty) and she asked which type of oil would I like to use. They had lemon grass, lavender and another that has no smell. I chose lemon grass.

She first did the Boreh Mask on my back while massaging my legs. So there was no time wastage during the 1.5 hour spa! What I really liked was that the beds were warmed up so that we won't be shivering in the aircon room while they were massaging. My last experience with body contours was cold... I had the option to off the heater but I prefer it there even though it was a little warm.

The deep tissue massage was really good because I had back muscle aches the following day but it felt really shiok! You just know it when massages are good! I prefer tough massages that kneads away your stiffness. I know some ladies have lesser pain resistance and prefer the aroma therapy light massages.

There was a little product introduction by the masseuse but I chose not to go into it and she didn't try to hard sell, which was good and she provided a good service overall. :) After the whole relaxing massage, we were led into the same room and this time, there was 2 bowls of yummy warm Chinese dessert prepared on the coffee table for us. For the 2nd time, I'm impressed because I never had done for me before. Will definitely love to go back there when I have the spare cash flow to do so!!

The only thing that I wasn't so impressed was when we didn't want to sign up the package, the consultant attitude turned really bad which I didn't liked it. I don't know if she accidently dropped or threw the file at one corner when we said we'll give it a pass for now.

My girl friend bought a kate spade bag at a private sale and they gave us 2 vouchers each for free massages. As we do know it's usually trying to sell their packages at the end of the day. I've heard of really bad services from other parlours that they are pushy on their packages before but I've decided to give this place a try. Got my girl friend to make a booking on Friday night. Apprently the place was so full that we had to take the last avaliable slot that was left. Any later, our vouchers will be expired. We did contemplate for a while. :)

The place wasn't hard to find at all because it was located right beside raffles place mrt station and once you're in the lift, when the door open, you're in Body Contours! There is no need to search for the place at all. The place was quite crowded for that day and we were ashered to a sofa area to fill up forms. The person who attended to us never bothered to serve us any drinks, which made me think "is it because we look like students doesn't mean you don't treat us properly?". Then again, it might be just me... The lady consultant who later explained to us what massages we'll be having was much nicer and warmer. She asked if we prefer the soft, medium or firm type of massages. I went for the toughest one because I don't like my massages to be ticklish. :)

We were then introduced to our masseuse and went into seperate rooms to have our massages. The room that I was in had a small bathing area, massage bed, a locker and a small basin. Pretty clean and comfortable. My masseuse was a pleasant lady and she didn't tried to push or sell me any products in the company. We talked as she did the massage, I didn't like things too quiet. haha. Her skill was there and she focus quite a bit on my back and shoulder which is the worst part of my body.

After 45 mins, we were brought to the sofa where the consultant asked how was the massage and if we're keen to get packages from them. She wasn't pushy and I found that pretty okay. Personally, I find the packages a little steep on the edge and even though we turned down the offer, she was still pleasant. Overall, it was a pretty good experience and I'll recommend this to any of you out there.

The next day my back was a little sore but it felt shiok.

Food Review: Pasta Fresca (Siglap)

Ambiance was awesome, very comfortable and the air con wasn’t too cold. It was in a nice temperature. Met up with Jolyn and Pei Lee for dinner and it’s the first time I’ve been to this place or even Pasta Fresca itself. I’ve know this shop has been around for ages but I’ve simply never took a step in before until last week. I’ve missed out a lot!!

Tiramisu was AWESOME!! It’s so smooth and light, the alcohol wasn’t too overwhelming as well. It’s lovely. One of the best I’ve ever tasted so far… PLEASE try this if you’re at Pasta Fresca! I’m not so much into Crepes but this one is still pretty okay. Nothing amazing like Tiramisu but I have to say it’s very much on personal taste.

My main course! Lasagna! I love the ones my aunty used to make, it’s awesome. This one is still pretty okay, not the best best that I’ve tried around. In a good size, anymore I would have been sick of it. Mind you, Lasagna is very rich and high in calories! Yummy too.

How to Go to Silloam Sauna

One thing that you should always have with you is the map and the address of the place. We got kinda lost while walking there because the direction from the website wasn't exactly the correct one.

Please note which station you're coming out from. There are two stations so do note which one you're coming out from. We came out from Seoul Station.

There was 2 Stations at that area and the other one I believe is call Seobu Station. If you Exit 2 from Seoul Station, walk to your left when you exit. Keep walking until you reach the main road, on your right there should be another Train Station.

Go towards that station and find Exit 2 on that Station which is one level up from the ground floor. From there you can follow the instructions written as "pass an overpass. Then, walk across the street and you will see on the 5th floor of the building to your right."

We went there at night. So this building had a cast of eerie green lighting, which was scary because that area so dark and we're two girls after all. We slept overnight there as well. :)

If you pass by a police station, you're walking the opposite direction because that's where we came from and walked a big circle to get to the place.

Look Out For:
The Sauna sign on top of the building! There is only one there and following that. You won't get lost that way.

Prepare:
- Toiletries (They don't provide it free there.)
- To go bare naked
- To enjoy the sauna and spa
- To relax and chill out for one day over there

Day 10: Home Sweet Home

I know I’m short alright.

That day was the hardest day for me to say goodbye to Seoul and to the people I knew there. We packed our rooms a little before heading to Holly’s Coffee for breakfast. We got tired of eggs and bread even though it was provided there for us.

Our flight was at 4pm ish? So we had the morning free to ourselves. We visited Hostel Korea as well, which was another hostel run by the same boss and 2 guys above. This hostel was much bigger but it doesn’t have en suite rooms. I like my personal room and toilets but shared living room, so there’s interaction and life around the place. I dislike it a lot when I have to stay shut inside the room for the night before I sleep. I want to know new people.

It’s my first backpackers stay… well, maybe not. But it’s my first backpackers stay in a family sort of rooming. I love the environment when I arrived. Everybody was talking to each other and there was so much life and interaction going on in the tiny kitchen area. It’s crazy fun for me! We know the Sam & NK have been working hard to run the place and they did a fantastic job on it. One day if they ever read my blog, I hope this will be an encouragement for them.

Bossom! Or rather that’s what Sam calls it.

I love the Kimchi that comes with it.

We wanted to try out Sam’s favourite food before we left Seoul. So we asked him if he was free to join us for lunch and to bring us there as well. I didn’t know they could do takeaways with so many things! I knew they could do it with Jajangmyeon and fried Chicken (something like KFC). Anyways, we were kinda too early for takeaways so we had to wait for him to clear his work before we headed down to this traditional restaurant for our last meal in Seoul. It was the only time we had to sit on the floor and eat!! It was a short walk behind backpackers Korea. You can ask Sam or NK if any of you are going to stay there.

Sam helped us with our luggage and sent us to the Airport limousine bus stop that was 3 mins away from the backpackers Korea. That’s where I felt kinda sad about going home because reality hits home to me at that point.

So that’s bye Korea and bye Seoul…

For almost 5 hours in the airplane I was sad until I saw him.

Jang Keunsuk aka Jang Geun Seok

Didn’t I mentioned that if he was in the same airplane as me, I’ll be the happiest person around? I was happy at that point of time. I didn’t recognise him as first and I was thinking “Gosh, what a girly hairstyle for a man! Is he gay?!”. Lol! Then I was hit with the fact that he DOES look like Keunsuk and GAWD… it was him alright. He was 2 seats in front of me and it was only the last 30 mins of the flight that he came to the economy class to talk to his crew members. He could have come earlier then I would probably have asked for a photo or something.

Elaine saw him and didn’t tell me. Horrible right! I like 3 guys from Korea. Kim Bum, Keunsuk and Junsu. I saw 2 out of 3 in 10 days when my chances are less than 0.1%. Elaine said it’s because I’m bringing a “Heng” person around. Maybe… haha!

Junsu came like on the following Thursday which was a week after I returned from Korea. If I delayed a little more, I might have seen Junsu instead of Keunsuk. hahahaha! Oh well. I’m happy with whom I’m met. No complains!

Day 9: Nami Island (Namiseon)

Our last full day before leaving Seoul the following noon. It’s almost heart wrenching to be back to reality again. I guess it’s the same for most people… almost normal. We wanted to be a little more ambitious to go to Morning Calm and Nami Island but guess what? We asked NK if it was possible and he did a research for us in Korean… and said it’s not possible unless we have a car. Geez. If not, I would have headed to the place where they shot “You’re Beautiful” there. Nevermind! I saw my handsome Keunsuk up close in the end, so it doesn’t matter anymore.

We took a KO Rail from at this station that was 2 stops down from Sinseol-dong and the journey was so long. I thought I won’t be able to sit in this train as I did sat a lot of it while I was in Japan but only once in Seoul. Shows that we didn’t move out of Seoul a lot. haha! Well, there’s a lot of stuff to look at in Seoul itself.

That’s right… There’s where Winter Sonata was filmed and ever since, loads of couples come here to enjoy scenery. Ajumma(s) as well. haha! We rented bicycles to cycle around the island and guess what? We completed it in about 3o mins? Good thing we didn’t rent it for 2 hours, else we would have been very bored! Their max limit was 1 hour.

That’s our cute bikes but they’re EXTREMELY hard to ride on.

Day 8: Everland

Close to getting all the post up. I’m getting lazier already and it’s been one week plus since I’ve been back from Korea.

And for this day… I regret not bringing my camera with me because it was really beautiful at Everland. There where having some tulip event and I love tulip. Makes me really happy and crazy (like above). As usual, I’m stealing pictures from Elaine again and Arthur’s too. She want royalties for using her pictures. Tsk tsk. After so many years of friendship, this is what I get. Sad!!!

Getting to Everland was slightly trickier compared to Lotte world because it was a little off Seoul and we have Arthur with us that day too. Good thing he came along else I won’t be playing any of the scary rides because Elaine was off her limits already… from Lotte world.

Everland is over at the mountain areas. 1hr from Seoul by bus.

It was actually big enough to store like a zoo in there?
The weather that day was really good because we didn’t need our wind breaker of any sort. Just a slightly thick jacket for me.

I’m quite amazed at how big Everland was. I actually enjoyed the place much more. So what's my recommendation? Everland was the winner for this one.

Sorry but I don’t have much to write on this one as it’s more on pictures and nothing much to talk about. Everybody knows about rides anyways. haha! We spent our whole day at Everland and back to Seoul for dinner before heading back to backpackers Korea for the day.

Day 7: Lotte World

I didn't bring my camera for Lotte World as I figured that there wouldn't be anything to take. So thanks to Elaine's handy good camera, we still have some awesome pictures in it. Elaine was up for the challange. Not all but she was definitely braver then before!! :) Check out below what she rode one. She's awesome. I dare to do scary stuff, so it wasn't so much for a dare for me... hehe.

My boyfriend criteria number one? Must be able to dare play scary rides with me and not puke. :) Lotte world was split into two parts, indoor and outdoor. Guess which one I liked better? For those who knows me, I'll definitely like the outdoor one better. Why? Simply because the rides are much more thrilling and... the scenary was awesome from high high above. :)

Compared to this and Everland, I'm actually liking everland more. Because it's more beautiful and the rides are wilder. hahahaha! I'm sorry, I'm such a sucker for thrilling stuff as long as I don't die and it's legal.

Oh yes...

Poor Elaine scared badly on that day with the scary rides. I think she probably will never suggest going on amusement parks with me anymore unless it's Disneyland. One ride I really hate so much was the indoor rollar coaster. It's horrible cos it's so fast and it bangs your head so hard that it hurts. By then the ride was no longer fun but a horrible one. Never bother to ride on that, period. You can try and get the same results as I do.

After all the crazy fun, we had an interesting dinner at this resturant. I think it was more like a snack or something? I don't really know. It's near the hostel where we stayed and we decided to give it a try and it was good. Yummy-licious.

Before I close for the day, we headed to star avenue as well since it's near Lotte. Plus it was free since we bought a one day ticket for Lotte World. Ha! It's a really small place and we did some role acting thing. It was silly fun... I wonder why she didn't upload the video. It's so funny that we were laughing our butts off that night in the room. I hope nobody heard it... and that's all for now.

Day 6: Changdeokgung Palace + Huwon, Picasso Street & HanGang River

After being chased out the day before at the first coffee prince shop, we've decided to head back there again and this time... it was empty. I was like "you're kidding right?" Anyways, we ordered coffee and a cake. My coffee was horrible cos I ordered something and assumed it would be just coffee black but it turned out that it was coffee black and lemons. Ewwww... It's like coffee turned sour and I didn't like it. Oh! I saw the rude waiter and I stared at him. I think he remembered us. ha!

After that we headed to Changdeokgung Palace and Huwon. It's a really pretty place to be for family and friends on a nice Sunday morning. Really peaceful and quiet. We took a good long stroll till we reach to the other side of the entrance. We didn't know where we were exactly but I didn't want to walk back the same place as it was pretty far. So we walk and walk until we passed by this street food stall that was selling rice cakes and maggots soup?! You read it right, it was maggot soup. Should have taken a picture down. It was like in this huge metal pot and inside was maggots and black soup. Yuck. I didn't want to try it. It was the only stall that I've seen so far selling maggots.

While we were eating and figuring out way out, suddenly an uncle popped by from beside us while we were looking at the map. Elaine got a shock. haha! Poor girl. I just felt that there was somebody else closed behind me. I presume he was like a tour guide somewhere as he was wearing KTO clothes. I told him we were looking for the nearest subway and he pointed us to where it was. We weren't lost, just looking for the subway till he popped up beside us. Then it's flea market time! We headed to Picasso street and that's where I finally see the true flea market style. I loved it till it started drizzling and people where closing up their stores. It's surprising that I didn't buy anything from there. Oh! Elaine and I saw a cute guy tending to one of the stalls. haha! :bk_love: No pictures, sorry!

We had ummm... bbq pork for dinner! I don't know what is it called exactly but it was yummy. :) There was some language drama going on there before we finally ordered our food. hahaha!

Our final stop of the day was at HanGang River. We took the magical boat and it was actually a showcase of magic. If I knew early, I'll probably chose the live one cos I prefer a live band. It was so cold that I decided to have a beer on boat. I think it was a pretty bad choice cos after half a can, my face was red and burning like a lobster. Hmmm... I can't lie when I drink. Tsk tsk. We definitely saw beautiful Cherry Blossom trees. We got semi-lost and passed by this street stall. The uncle was watching porn openly and it was a total turn off. I was grossed out, period. We headed back quite late and that was day 6 for us.

Day 5: Hongdae – Ewha Women’s Uni – Namsangol Hanok Village

We probably covered the most for today compared to the other days. This day was the day that we got so lost and it was also the coldest day out of the 10 days that we were here. Lost and cold? Not the best thing ever.

We had an additional buddy, Arthur, traveling with us and our first stop was Hongdae. We wanted to check out the first coffee prince cafe and it was our first lost route as well. We asked nearly 4 person before we finally found the cafe using Arthur’s phone + wifi. Great job! Sad thing was we were chased out of the cafe as soon as we stepped in because it was full. The waiter was rude to us and I was pissed. If I knew Korean, he would have been dead. I’m not nice to mean people. Did I mentioned that we asked 2 female students for help too? The attitude from them when Elaine asked was like annoyed but as soon as Arthur opened his mouth to ask, my gawd… Their expression changed from super annoyed to beaming with joy. OMGosh. I’m was utterly speechless at that moment. Korean girls are suckers for Ang mo guys, that’s all I can say. Well, the two girls didn’t help cos I knew they were bringing us to Starbucks instead of coffee prince cafe.

So we left Hongdae and headed to Ewha Women’s University for my flea market shopping. I was expecting more on the floor kind and artist showcasing their own styles. It wasn’t for Ewha and I was a little disappointed. We didn’t shop much as we had a guy with us. I admit I only do shopping with mainly females and it’s the same for Elaine too. haha! So we had a plan changed to head to Namsangol Hanok Village instead.

We got lost again while looking for the village and ended up walking one big round to find the village. Well, it was a good thing we found it without a lot of difficulty, just loads of walking up hills. I love the scenary and I love this naan looking cinnamon filled bread. Good thing I have somebody who likes it as well. haha! Else, I’ll really be eating it alone.

Anyways, after the walking around the Hanok village and taking loads of pretty pictures… I’m finally going to Junsu’s papa pizza shop! Needless to say that we got so lost here as well. We had to ask the policemen for help and he was really helpful. He ran back to get his car and drove down to where we were, pulled out his map and showed us how to get there. I was really touched by how helpful he was. Such helpfulness is really rare. The pizza was surprisingly good I have to say. Unlike Singapore’s Pizza hut, this one was so yummy and satisfying.

After a good dinner, we wanted to check out this pub called “Once in a blue moon”. It was suppose to be nearby Micky’s Time out gelato shop as well. Good thing we gave up half way quickly when we couldn’t find it because when I look for it up in the internet, it’s almost an hour walk from the station. Managed to find Micky’s Gelato Time-Out and yay! We finally didn’t get so lost. Micky has loads of Aunties fans, or rather he attracts Aunties more than teenagers. haha! Arthur was the only male in the whole shop and as usual, the Korean girls at the counter was gaga-ing over him. lol. I’m not sure if I’m used to it by now. Well, he does like the attention after all.

We were all poop-ed by the end of the day. It was a long day after all but we had fun.

Day 4: Namdaemun – Myeongdong – N Seoul Tower – Sauna

We went to Namsam Seoul Tower at night and it was a really beautiful view, excluding the SUPER cold weather! It was about 7 degrees, if I’m not wrong. In the morning, we went to Myeongdong to shop and I went to make a pair for specs for SGD207. I love the frame because it’s so light and it has the colour I like. I think it’s cheap cos the frame is nice, plus hi-index and all that. It would have cost like nearly SGD250 in Singapore.

Yep, this day is the day that I’m utterly broke. I spent ALL my cash that could have lasted me for 10 days meals. haha! I definitely under estimated cash for this trip. ahhhhhh!!! I bought tees and girly stuff that I hope that I’ll wear them. Definitely loads of facial products too.

I guess that’s about it today. I can’t really recall much now. Ohhhh!! Now I remembered! We went Sauna!! Hahahaha! Now Elaine has nothing to hide from me and of course vice versa. It would have been an awesome sight for guys BUT TOO BAD. It’s for our eyes only. It’s definitely shiok and somehow, I was used to it already cos it was like Japan and it was the same. Stark naked walking around.

We slept there for one night in the charcoal room, gradually it got a bit colder but Elaine didn’t call me up to shift to another room. Aiyo. That poor girl was cold in there till morning. So I pulled her out to the main room which was warmer when I woke up.

Day 3: Jeju – Seoul – Cheonggyrcheon Stream

We slacked the morning while we took a plane back to Seoul. I was definitely happy to see Seoul again we cos we can barely travel in Jeju island without Korean! It’s definitely a slight pain but the scenery was definitely the best there. I don’t think we have much pictures after that. haha.

Anyways, we found the guesthouse quite easily with the help of an uncle. I think he could tell that we are tourist. A lot of people thinks I’m Korean lar!! So irritating when they started passing me pamphet and gave none to Elaine. Ah geez.

Cheonggyrcheon Stream

We walked the Cheonggyrcheon Stream at night. Good thing we had a companion along which was a guy so it felt safer somehow. It’s good to have a guy on travel trip sometimes. It helps alot too specially that he’s an ang mo too. hahaha! Ang mo is a Singaporean way of calling a Caucasian. Nothing bad, just in case he’s reading this too. haha. which I’m sure he would.

It was super cold specially at nights and that all for Day 3.

Day 2: Still at Jeju Island… but with Tour

Yep, with tour, I felt like I covered more… So please go with tour when you’re in Jeju. Either that or you drive.

We woke up on time but kinda under estimated it and had to rush our breakfast (I cooked eggs in 10 mins, scrabbles ones) and ate them on the bus. It wasn’t allow but the uncle was awesome cos he knew it was our breakfast and we will be climbing a cliff on the first sightseeing. If we faint, it will be his fault, in a way. haha!

My personal favourites?
Actually, all of them are equally nice! As long as it’s not in Singapore, anywhere is awesome. For the Lava cave, we thought there was an exit on the other side but there wasn’t but we saw something amazing which was the Lava tube. You know where lava was spilling out of the mouth, we saw the mouth. It was an awesome sight. I hope I can get some pictures with a new friend that I’ve made there.

I had friends with a Malaysian couple, a mother and son Hongkong-ers and another guy from America. I thought it was fun to be able to talk to them as they have much different cultures from us and it was definitely an experience.

The tour ended at 6plus-ish and we were always the last ones to get up the bus. haha! So paiseh and I have muscle aches from walk so much and climbing so much stairs! The kitchen smells awesome now with fried eggs and I’m waiting for Elaine to wake up!! I’m so hungry!

Tony Moly

After the tour, the tour guide told us that they can drop us off anywhere we like. So yeah! We headed to the underground night market for shopping! It was like a Bugis street but under the basement level and the price of the clothes like almost the same priced as Singapore’s. What is cheap? Cosemtics! Lip sticks starting at SGD8 onwards! All their stuff cost nearly less than SGD12! I spent like 44,600 won in just one store, Tony Moly. I’m amazed at what they have. Definitely not in Singapore! Will post my buys soon!

I smartly left my Jeju map at the guesthouse and we had to find our way home without the map. We did. I prayed that the first bus stop we find will have our bus number and it was it! We found our first bus stop and it had our number. Then we had to confirm that it was the correct direction as well, I show the lady my handy Korea paper that the staff in Jeju airport wrote for us. She said Yes and I was glad! We missed our main bus stop but it was okay cos we still knew how to go back from the later one.

The weather was so much better today as there was lesser wind to kill you and I love blowing out the smoke. It’s fun!

Day 1: Singapore – Incheon Airport – Jeju Island

I never enjoyed airplane rides for long distance cos I don’t sleep while sitting down. So I ended up staying nearly away the whole time. I must really thank God for the save journey and there were times we thought we’ll get lost, I always pray that we’ll find a way out somehow… and we did on the first try! It didn’t rain while we were out, the most we had was drizzles and I pray that it will continue to be like this.

Korea has the LONGEST immigration point ever!! I took like 30mins at the immigration point, tell me about it! We, Singaporeans, are impatient people and 30 mins was like 30 hours for me. I can almost fall asleep standing! I was happy/glad/thrilled once I cleared past everything and we wanted to take a train to Gimpo but decided not to when we saw the limousine bus first and plus point? We have our luggage helped into the bus and that was the important one as well. Haha! Almost.

It was a 20 mins ride from Incheon to Gimpo airport and we regretted going too early cos we had like 1 hour to kill and there was nothing at Gimpo! I believe we took a budget plane as well and it’s scary as it moves to the slightest movement of the wind. Not as stable as the huge ones but a good experience. Oh, I hate small seats and they definitely have one, good thing it was just an hour ride.

Yeha Guesthouse

Jeju? It’s bigger than Singapore but definitely not established their means of transport does not have trains/subway and you can only travel by bus, car and motorcycles. It is not a good idea to travel by bus especially when you do not know Korean and a lot of tourist attraction places have to take a taxi in. Not accessible from bus stops. We stayed at Yeha guesthouse and it’s like a huge house with many rooms, we didn’t know anybody on the first day as most of them were like speaking in Korean.

Jeju Folk Village Museum

Herb Dongsan

On our own, we covered the folk museum and herb dongsan, will most pictures soon! It was the easiest route as we just need to take a bus from jeju bus terminal (dock 3) to the other end (folk museum) and later take a taxi down to herb dongsan as there wasn’t any other choice to get in. It’s definitely fun and the flowers are really beautiful. With colours of bright red, yellow, purple etc… I had the urge to just roll around in it. Haha! Yeah, it’s been a dream to roll in a field filled with flowers!

We had a fun evening at this store that we just randomly popped in and the ajumma (aunty) there had no idea how to speak English and us vice versa. Her menu was in Korean and I was like OMGosh. HOW? She had pictures outside and we like the one in the middle, I had to call her to come out and point at the picture, then she went Oooo with a string of Korean which I don’t understand. Lol. Before that there was this drama that I tried to use my iphone to show her the Korean words but I think she doesn’t read. I was too embarrassed to play the speech out. Oh well.

We definitely ordered the correct thing as the next customer who came in has the same thing as us. Phew. I was definitely afraid that we order something 20,000 won but it was only 5,000 won per pax. If you are planning to stay out late out of the central place of jeju, let me warn you there is little to no lights on the streets but I heard from my tour guide that it’s safe as they know each other on the same area and treat each other as family. Like Singapore old days, kampong style. I love it when he mentioned it and thus there is no thieves or beggars along the streets of Jeju.

The whole journey was definitely 2 plus hours to and fro just for bus ride and we had an awesome first day in Jeju! Oh, it was terribly cold as well. The cold wind just cuts in you and worse is it pushes me as well. You can imagine how strong it is! Strong enough to tangle my short hair as well.

Food Review: Manpuku (Tampines One)

Frankly speaking, it’s not too bad aside the comments I've received from my friends. I like it better since they opened up as food court style instead of marche. The interior design is Japanese styled and I like it. Quite a variety of Japanese food and it was a $6.50 promo on a few meals in every store.

Naturally, Elaine and I whacked the $6.50 ones as we never tried them before. We tried the above, I forgot to take a good look at the names but it’s pretty yummy. The curry was suppose to be Japanese but we felt it tasted more like indian-ish curry. Haha. Poor Elaine didn’t like it though.

Cafe Review: Shots (Ann Siang Hill)

Anyways, nearby my office there was a new cafe called “Shots” and I love the simplicity of the cup and why the store was called Shots. It’s basically coffee shots and camera shots. The guy who opened the store loves coffee, sake and photography. Besides sake, shots works really well with coffee and photography. Amazing.

I love the cup so much that I made it into my stationary holder… since I didn’t have one and I liked this so much.

Don’t waste your money trying if you want to get a hot drink. Get from Starbucks or Coffee bean, they are much much much better at the same price. Expecting it to be like standard Starbucks quality, this one totally failed me and I’m ever trying it again. Disappointing…

Everything sucks! 15 mins after our order was the soup served. It was suppose to be mushroom soup but it’s more like starch, water and loads of MSG. FAIL. It was less than warm and disgusting. Same goes to my friend’s order.

The service sucks and I just don’t like everything about it. Never going back there again.

Really yummy Myammar food! We order curry chicken with butter rice. I love the butter rice, though very fattening! The century egg side dish is very yummy too. Love the combination at how it done! Rachel ordered this fried bitter ghaut and it wasn’t the best? Can skip this and choose another combination if given the chance.

Why 3 stars?! It’s because they kinda rush people to order and pay their bills, though I know we had a late dinner. The bowl of curry chicken I had was soaked in oil as they didn’t stir the gravy well before pouring it into the bowl. It’s ewww…

I've been using this for a at least 2 weeks now. I loved this as it doesn't strip off my skin moisture but it has a very strong perfume smell which I believe not a lot of people will like.

There are actually 2 kinds, one is with the whitening and another without. The price difference, I believe is about another $2 and it's exclusively sold in Guardian only. I bought the one that has whitening which is the 4-in-1.

Personally, I don't think the whitening has much effect but I like it as it doesn't strip all off your natural oil on your face. As I'm growing older *coughs*, I don't have that much of a very oily skin anymore. It's becoming normal/combination.

I would actually recommend for night use, specially for those who sleeps in air-con room and super lazy to using moisturiser all the time. You will still need to tone and moisturise your face, just that sometimes... we all just gets a little lazy. :)

OH! This is actually a product of Thailand! So if you're popping by there, do get one and let me know if I can get some too. :)

My Batam Trip Review

I’m back from Batam!

I took the weekday package from Tauzia Hotel Management. I believe it is a direct associate with Harris so it should be cheaper. This is my second time to Batam and as long as you follow the hotel and shopping center taxi’s, you’re safe. No guarantee other wise.

Hotel

Hotel Type: Harris Hotel
Package I took up: Get one night, get another night free SGD75/- ish in total. Only avaliable from Sunday to Thursday for a limited time period.
Room Type: Cabana. An extented off the normal rooms. High ceiling but no privacy for toliet and has a handful of Got mosquito as well.
Overall: Breakfast and room cannot fight with holiday Inn but I’m not complaining as it’s cheaper as well.

Massage and Spa

Massage Parlor: Eska
Location: At nagoya basement, opposite hypermart on your right. Just right outside the exit of the shopping mall. Won’t miss the banner. Isabella is just further up on the left or right, can’t remember exactly.
Package Type: Package 5 – SGD 57/- (with tax)
Review: I love the massage, the lady who did it for me ask me how hard I wanted. So I put it till quite solid. Next day, I’ve got muscle ache but shiok. The people there are very friendly. It’s a bit tough to give tips because I wasn’t given a chance to give before I’m passed on to the next person. There will be a one-way free ride back after the massage, and it was quite late by the time we finished our massage. The uncle was nice to bring us back when asked if it was okay, so we tip him quite a bit. Better safe then sorry! Oh, the only thing I didn’t like was both men and woman are shared room and there was this stupid guy who opened the curtain (accidental or on purpose I don’t know) while the lady was massging me. they have alot of fakes there! Even perfume! It’s like about SGD7 per bottle but some smells really horrible, so you have to keep smelling from every store to get the closes good ones. Buy body scrubs! Really shiok. Tolietries are cheap cheap! But how real or fake, I can’t really tell. Since it’s from hypermart, I believe it’s okay. Indo mie and mie sedap! 20cents per pack!! Amazingly cheap. We even bought beer back to the hotel to drink and chill at night.

Total spending: SGD250/- (without hotel)
I will suggest to bring about 400 SG there and change if you need to only. 250 was a little budget for me.

My Goodness!! This mask is NEARLY edible!! So so so so yummy! I love the smell, I love the mask and I love the packaging of it! It's so cute and small compared to the other mask that I've been using so far. This is one of the higher ranged mask but I never regretted paying more for this!

I'm totally addicted to the smell right now and I want to mask so much more! It's definitely moisturizing and the smell really calms you down. As everybody knows the smell of chocolates, it's like a very homely smell and I didn't want to take out the mask after 30 mins!!

I know I mask pretty long but I see the effect working better for me. Maybe my skin takes a while to absorb it.

TIP #1: Try to mask right after bath, as your face pores are cleaned and opened. Good for absorbing all the nutrients during that time.

TIP #2: Always keep mask in fridge to keep the lifespan of the mask longer and very refreshing when you put it on your face. :)

Whoa! I'm amazed at this totally! It looks like honey and sticks like one too!
Personally, I like this very much and I'll put it in my checklist of to-buy when I go Korea next year!

It's gel like and non-oily. Very good for those who have oily skin. Foams up so easily! and the most important part of it is it cleans well without drying my skin.

I think my skin is becoming more dry externally as I'm always in air-con room but it's still oily on the inside. So I like something that doesn't strip my external moisture but cleans inside well. Something like deep cleansing?

Smell wise, it's really mild and I like the smell of it. Very yummy. :) I've lost interest in Face shop products as their stuff are usually more oil base. Becoming a TOP fan of skinfood now. Love their concept and products totally. Maybe cos all of it sounds really yummy and their slogan "Special food for the skin to eat." haha!

Lotion Light (Toner):
I love the lotion light! It's toner for me and it really makes my skin supple like baby's. I think I'll get this again when it's used up. Not cheap but I love it! Absorbs really fast as it's very light.

Oh! NEVER put this on the cotton wool. Put the liquid on your palm and pat it around your face like when you use moisturizer. This is not your typical "clean up" toner. More like a moisturizer...

Milk Lotion Light (Moisturizer):
The milky lotion light was a little oily as the toner's very mild oil is good enough for me. Even though it was slightly oily-er, it didn't cause my skin to have any break out and I'm purely amazed. Absorbs fast too and leaves my face really supple and soft. :)

Washing Powder Light:
This is really like washing powder and it can be a bit annoying to foam the powder up properly at many times. Cleans my face pretty well but I can find cheaper and similar substitute for it. So I don't think I'll get washing powder again.

It isn't the cheapest thing for cosmetic and after much raves around I've decided to give it a try. It was 20% store wide for body shop when I bought it and so it was much cheaper then the original price stated above.

What I really love is that it's very mattifying and not oily at all. Easily absorb into your skin and stays matte after that! What even better is I noticed my scars fading after 2 nights of using it, well, I used on my scars quite generously and even on those pimples that are coming up due to stress and late nights.

I'm so tempted to try out the blemish gel now... and probably the whole tea tree series?!
It's so yummy if you like the smell of tea tree!

The mask was packed nicely, it has a plastic layer that you need the peel it off. I was so surprise that they're not stingy with the essence (30 ml) and there was more then enough for my face. Even after 30 mins, the mask didn't dry out like my usual dainty mask. I kept the left overs to use it within the next few days. My face feels smooth, doesn't oil so fast and will definitely but it again cos it's worth it.

The smell is very light, compared to the dainty mask which I always used. I think I would have liked it stronger. After effect was soft smooth skin, same effect as I've always used for mask. One reason I liked this mask is because it's not oily after use. I tried face shop and kose Q10 mask. It left my skin greasy and I had to wash my face as I didn't like the feeling. So if you don't like oily stuff, this one is definitely for you!

This has always been my top favs lip balm. I tried from Nivea, Lip Smackers, local brands and finally found my favourite one at body shop. Although I have to admit that it's slightly pricey compared to many cheaper brands outside, this one is definitely worth the price.

I prefer waxy ones compared to oil based ones because it's longer lasting and I'm too lazy to keep re-applying it every 30 mins or so. As I'm sleeping in air-con room, I used it before I sleep and my lips would be really nice and smooth in the morning. Not your chapped and dried up ones.

You have no idea how sad I was when my whole bag was stolen, this fav of mine was inside and I have to get another soon!!!

I love this as this has a very high SPF and apparently, Avene is specialized in Oily and sensitive skin which makes it very good for me as I don't like oily stuff. And lesser strong chemicals in face products as well.

It's very easy to apply and can act as a make up base as it helps to moisturize face even though I do find it a tad bit oily but it's fine. Just need to blot along the day.

Rants:
The base of the emulsion is white, so putting too much makes it looks like you're a ghost. If it was slightly less thicker, I would have love this very much.

Knowledge Base:
Here's some SPF knowledge for you. SPF 50 doesn't mean it has a higher protection rate compared to SPF 30. Know your SPF well!

I love this totally. Been using it for a month plus, cleans my face totally well. Since it's a soap bar, I use this only when I bath. I was quite amazed that it can used for body and face. Plus the loads of raves for it, I thought I had to try it myself.

I'm amazed. Cheap, good and long lasting for me. Imported it from drugstore and there are oats inside the bar itself. I foam it up with my hands and the foam rise up so easily! Cleans my face without drying out. I love this feeling of my face after a wash with the soap bar. There are many other different "flavours" for it and I think I might just try for more!

Plus it's environmental friendly too. *thumbs up for it*

I don't quite fancy soap bar but it's good.

Actually I was about to give this movie a miss already then my sister just have to have a free ticket for herself while I paid for my own. It was fine by me so we watched this movie yesterday. I love it, totally! It's sooo my type of movie.

It started out with a guy who was good at cooking but lousy at everything else. He's like a girl repellant. Then one day, there was this pretty girl who wasn't afraid of him started working at his shop. He proposed to her but she was disappointed in him cos he only went for her looks....

Because of his sad life, he was chosen to be a tester for the "handsome suit" and lived 2 life. One as a "ugly" man running his family store and another as a "handsome" man scouted to be a model in a magazine. There was a few cross road that he had to go through during the movie and it was really well-developed, I would say...

Near the end of the movie, he had to choose to live a life of fame or live a life of simplicity. Not to give any more spoilers, you guys should watch it yourself. A very simple story but a strong message behind it. Being handsome with lots of fame doesn't give you the small little everyday happiness that "one" is looking for.

I thought this was quite good. It suppressed my hunger and I had most of my use while I was in Japan. Per bottle will last me for a month and I ate it religiously everyday. After I'm back from Japan, I has losses mainly in around my hips and legs. It should help with the muscle retaining, and within that 11 days, I saw changes in me.

I was kinda expecting myself to fall sick after I come back to SG but I didn't, so in a way, it was a supplement to my body as well. I ate alot of carbo and fried stuff in Japan as well and I didn't gain any weight at all. Still can make loss around my body measurements is a miracle, seriously.

Well, there are no miracle pills in this world. CLA is like a booster for me to help in my diet and workout.

I thought this was really amazing for oily skin. As it is medicated and made specially for oily skin. It works really well for me and I like it as it isn't the oily type of toner. I bought this small sample bottle in Japan for about $8 SGD. Plus the black mask as well, will review on it after I've tried.

My skin feels soft and nice after use. Not the oily kind. If you don't like oily toner and looking for more water base, as well as that you have oily skin. This would be good for you.

Rants:
I didn't like the fact that it had alcohol content inside. It's pretty strong for the alcohol smell but since I'm using the tester size, I'm not able to give much input on it.

I love this!! Oil-free feeling, absorbs easily into skin, to me it has a minor herb smell which I think it's okay. Use this at night and my skin is really soft and yummy the next day! Definitely a great way to spend for oil-free moisturizer for me! It's more clear gel and I don't see a cream in it. Might consider getting this after I finish my own moisturizer.

I thought this smells really great! Very familiar smell, like something I used when I was young. Foams up pretty well and cleans deep in and out as well. Not over drying. Top it up with the SKII lotion, you face is definitely very lovely after that. Smooth, clean and in it's best condition.

I love reviewing for cleanser cos it's my basic favourite MUST have in order to have clean skin. That's what I believe though. Lousy cleanser won't give you good skin.

Rants:
Pricey... I'm using all testers though. Would be a good investment in the future when my face is more mature.

NEVER never never judge it's book by it's cover. It doesn't look that nice but it's really good! I love the feel of how clean my face is but not dried clean but clean smooth! You know that feeling I'm sure! So much better then the black one that I sampled before. This is the perfect one I love it totally! Pretty easy to foam up and mine was in the form of the rose shape. :))

I used the bumpy stuff as massage (actually you're suppose to foam up the soap with your hands).... But the massage is pretty nice. Or... you can use the flat surface way too. Pretty neat I have to say!

Finally I have to say it's natural and at a DAMN cheap and good price $3! Soap bar! C'mon! You know soap bars takes forever to finish using. :)) It's sooo going into my top favs now! Have a great Chinese New Year Readers!

I love this product myself cos it smells really great! Not only that, it's not over oily and keeps my face really moisturized! The trick for those with oily skin is that you can't use alot. Just a little coverage over the whole face will do. The skin absorbs it so quickly that you tend to put more then needed!!

I usually use this at night before I go to bed and will wake up with a really moist skin the next day after wash!

It has a really nice smell and it's handmade-natural soap. Environmental friendly because it's in a form of a soap bar type. The only good thing I liked was it's only $3 bucks for a natural soap!

Rants:
I find it a little too drying to my skin and didn't like the soap to over strip my face natural oil. I was expecting something really nice from it cos it's natural and from korea. But... I guess I over expected it. Quite a disappointment I must say. I hope the pink version one is better.

yes.... It's from fr3bs again! How amazing!
Been using this for at least a week already and from the so much raves I hear from SK II, I think it's pretty alright only for the clear lotion.

It does a good job on retaining moisture on my face and I'll use it usually at night. Without cotton pad, I'll pour the lotion on my palm and pat in gently on my face until most of the lotion are absorbed in. I use it more like a moisturizer as I don't quite fancy the oils inside normal moisturizers.

I've actually finished the first mini bottle already!

I love this darling since I had a sample of it. Will definitely change to this after I finish my current face soap. As my skin has pimples quite frequent due to late night sleeps and stuff but being in the air-con all day during work as also dried my skin up pretty badly.

So as much as my face is oily, it's dry as well and I like clean skin after a face wash. Usually I would wash 2 times to get a squeeky clean skin (which can result in overdrying as well). So after using this, I'm was amazed at the results I have. Not only was my skin squeeky clean, it's smooth as well. NOT the oily smooth but clean smooth. Unlike many cleansers that I've used, the clean is sometimes too drying clean.

It's non-foamy as well, love the smell alot as it reminds me alot on Johnson's and Johnson baby soap!! I wonder if they have the formula in there as well?

Tell the difference and DO NOT GET CHEATED!!

I was so disappointed when I received a fake pong pong fen.
Thus, I'm blogging this to you girls so all of you out there will take note of it and not unnecessary hair loss in the future. It won't be pretty.

1. Spot the plastic difference!!

Original has the number 1 printed like how it can be seen on the bottle.
Fake have the number blacked out! The prints on the plastic looks "grainy" and the quality is lousy too.

2. Fake have prints is so light that you had to squint to read it!

3. For fakes, the bottle material is lousy too. Fakes have Cap and body colour is different.

4. At the back of the bottle. Look out for manufacturing company.

Orginal is "Hans Schwarzkopf & Henkel GmbH"
The fake that I had is "Mans Schwarzkopf & Henkel GmbH"

5. Original bottom of the bottle there should be a random string of number and followed by a date. No recycle logo print at all.

Fakes that I had printed "recycle 2" when the back printed "recycle 7"
Fakes have manufacturing date and expiry date.

6. Lastly, powder quality.... the stuff you're dumping on your head.

Original comes out easily from the bottle. Not clumpy and all in really fine powder.
Fake comes out in clumpy white form and only comes out a bit.

7. When you open to look at the inside...

Orginal powder does not stick at the sides of the bottle.
Fake powder sticks at all corners of the bottle.

I do not know how many different versions of fakes there are but once you used the original ones before you can tell apart.

More suitable for dry and mature skin. one of the ingredients actually contained Ginseng! Which really has that smell to it when I tried to sniff it out.

I must say I liked it. When I first when I squeeze it out of the sample pack, the gel is white and doesn't have any smell. To me, I think I might picked up a scent of alcohol. Not sure if there is any inside. It's scentless, so for those who dislike scent alot, will love this.

I compared this with my own marvel gel. It's does the same thing where the white dirt starts coming out. It's the after wash that made it different. I love this because my skin feels squeaky clean AND smooth at the same time. I hate oily feeling but this one is totally different.

I washed my face before I used the renewal gel.
